bakugou can’t even let someone hold him for five seconds before feeling like something disgusting crawled under his skin and lit itself on fire. the fact that all might reached for him by his head to pull him in for that hug was so reflective of so many of bakugo’s issues, as well as what it’ll take to tend to them in the future.
his mother’s primary target when she hits him is his head and then she pats his hair like nothing happened and he’s expected to just accept that. the smell from his quirk undoubtedly causes him some extremely painful migraines and his mind is so overactive that it probably physically hurts him sometimes.
when all might beat the absolute crap out of him during the final exam, he’d grabbed him by the face and smashed the back of his head into the ground.
his head is maybe not his self-described weak point but it absolutely causes him a lot of grief and so to have it cradled like that in a sincere and protective way is probably something he’s never experienced before. reaching for his head before his shoulders or his hand is a very audacious move and it reads as a big part of not just why bakugo rips away from him so fast but also, maybe, why he allowed himself to be touched in the first place.
this is the first time, i think, that he’s been assured that something isn’t his fault. this is the first time something like that is being directly juxtaposed with an action that has been directly utilized to hurt and confuse him, and it’s not being used for that anymore. this is a complete dismantlement of everything he’s probably come to expect by someone putting their hands on him like that and it just sticks out to me as a really important detail that i’m not sure many other people notice or consider the gravity of. it’s such a small gesture but it’s. everything, actually. everything he still can’t quite cope with, everything that’s been used to leave him this warped to begin with. i think some part of him really just wanted to know what that would feel like. what it’d be like if it were different from what he knows.
all might made a mistake with him and midoriya during the final exam and i never liked watching that fight. it was too much, he went too far, and watching them both absorb the attacks they did from their hero when he should have been focusing more on teaching them is really painful. this could almost be compared to the way that mitsuki hits her kid and then pats him in quick succession but that’s the thing — it can’t be. because all might is actually fucking sorry. all might is taking responsibility here for his contribution to the negligence that let bakugou believe that his retirement was his fault. he didn’t raise this kid with the back of his hand and then dare to pretend he can also be gentle.
he’s just sorry. and bakugou’s never had that before. for it to be shown this way is very subtly powerful and i’m not even totally sure horikoshi knows it. i just think about it a lot.
Enrichment is a foundation of animal care, not an option
It is also not a synonym for entertainment.
Enrichment allows and animal the option to perform a variety of natural behaviors. It is a measureable science benefitting physical and brain health.
If you cannot spare time to provide as basic and indispensable as enrichment, then having a pet is not the right thing for you
—mod Nick
This is incredibly important. All animals need mental and physical enrichment when they’re in human care.
However. This does not mean that if you did not know your pet needed enrichment when you first got it – or if you were not able to be in control of if a pet was given enrichment – that you’re inherently a bad person and should never have pets. I’ve seen a lot of blogs shaming people for how their childhood pet was treated, or for what care they provided their first pet when they knew very little about taking care of an animal.
Would it be ideal if everyone did a ton of research before getting a pet and never messed anything up? Absolutely. But that’s also not realistic. I’d much rather encourage people to do better and praise them for admitting they made a mistake and choosing to make a change in their husbandry protocols rather than attack them for their past. If someone realizes they’re not doing the right thing for their animal and genuinely wants to learn, we need to support them.
Enrichment is vital and necessary, but it’s far more beneficial for your pets to change what you can now and for the future, rather than dwell on the past. What’s important is that you make the choice to provide enrichment once you’ve learned it’s needed. It’s when someone knows their husbandry is lacking and isn’t willing to put in the time or effort it fix it that the above statements really apply.

Lesbian film Rafiki has shattered box office records in Kenya – after a government ban was lifted for one week only.
The lesbian love story from director Wanuri Kahiu debuted to international acclaim at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but the film was banned in its home country after state censors took exception to the “homosexual” themes.
Under Academy Awards rules, submissions to the Best Foreign Language
Film category “must be first released in the country submitting it… and
be first publicly exhibited for at least seven consecutive days in a
commercial motion picture theater.”
The film is now again banned in the country, following the end of the
seven-day exemption – but in a final humiliation for state media
censors, it was revealed that the film dominated the country’s box
office in the period it was released.
Rafiki was the top performing film in Kenya for the week it was unbanned, edging out major Hollywood blockbusters The Nun and Night School.
The film grossed more than $33,000 in its week of release, with more than 6,500 tickets sold.
The start of the film was greeted by raucous applause at screenings,
while the crowds “laughed and booed” at the logo of the Kenya Film
Classification Board—the body that suppressed its release.
The re-imposed ban makes it an offence to even own a copy of the film in the country.
Pedophiles don’t belong in our community no matter what but they can be gay, I’m sorry. Denying that is discounting all the queer kids who were preyed upon by pedophiles who knew we had less resources and support than straight kids and took advantage of that. Thanks!
