The Man on the Train
This is an illustration I did for my friend, Dai’s, PhD thesis. A part of his thesis involved a study around how some gay men (particularly those of a minority status) negotiate being gay outside of mainstream gay culture. One story that really stood out to me as being quite unique and touching involved a middle-aged fellow who has never been intimate with another man, doesn’t necessarily identify as being gay, but spends his days knitting baby socks on park benches and on the train as a way to perform his ‘gayness’. As he still lives at home with an extremely conservative family this is essentially the only way he knows to express his sexuality.

“”“Comically”“” misspelling the word queer to denote a group of lgbtq people you don’t like is not only directly lifted from radfe.ms doing the same exact things in their online circles, which then seeped its way into gatekeeper circles in general because, suprise, a lot of them are ra.dfem.s and t.erfs or rb from radf.ems and te.rfs, but that aside, i really shouldn’t have to sit down and hold anyones hand and explain why its insulting to our history and culture and inherently anti lgbtq and makes you sound like a 14 year old cisstraight boy who spends all his time on anti sj reddit threads and calls people slurs when he loses at video games

Finally got the motivation to do something I’ve wanted to do for a long time – make some Furby stickers! I did some with the most common pride flags ( I’m considering adding plain heart versions later, too, though.) I hope you all like them!! These took a lot of work and I’m really proud of them!
You can find them all for sale at my RedBubble @ Troola
And on the chance anyone likes them enough to use them as sidebar/etc images I put the singles under the cut – just don’t be rude and remove the signature/claim as your own/try to sell!
