“i could literally pick you up and carry you” / “i will literally abdicate this time if you try, gilbert”
@ilaaer

I loved this comment and I had to draw it ❤
As a bonus:

Honestly nothing makes me happier than this discovery
(For the Americans, Fritz was about 5 ft 4 in., Gilbert is about 5 ft 10 in.)

Nothin’ serious, just me pushing my “young Giselbert is not the most refined person in Europe at the time” headcanon
Why is he eating tree bark? Initially because I kept thinking about how the Great Famine of the early 14th century must’ve sucked for him (because if I remember correctly the Teutonic Knights were affected as well), but more so because he just strikes me as the kind of person who’d eat whatever is available with little regard for taste when there’s a food shortage

…and brought the water
with him like a hungry flood, devouring all that wasn’t yet his.

My favorite theme for Gilbert remains water. Prussia, the country born along the Baltic sea.
Vague context here is the battle of Waterloo, Gilbert’s uniform is based on the uniform Blücher is depicted with. The Iron Cross was introduced in 1813 in honor of the late Queen Luise. It was established on her birthday.
