some day in the future abe and mihashi have a tiny tree in a tiny home for which they each make an ornament — abe makes a baseball-snowman, and mihashi makes a lil gingerbread-man-esque figure that is a nishiura pitcher on one side, and a catcher on the other. ( ´ ▽ ` ) ❤

ah morning. what better time than to think about domestic abemiha. theyd go to their daughters softball games… abe would yell at the ump sometimes and mihashi would hide his face in embarrassment. their daughter would get mad and yell at abe for yelling and embarrassing her
i am 100% convinced that they are only vaguely gay coded so that higuchi gets a huge fanbase so that when they are confirmed canon in the end no one can say “no you cant write that” bc the fanbase is so big higuchi will have more artistic freedom. at least i hope thats how it will play out. im not familiar with the manga industry but theres always the possibility that the magazine wont ALLOW their relationship to be made clear
oh oofuri is being published in a seinen magazine and typically seinens allow for more “”””mature”””” themes (hate that gayness is considered that way btu thats for.. another discussion) so she’d be allowed to explore their relationship. her first manga which was about gay teenz (yuku tokoro) was published in afternoon too
also id say abe is pretty blatantly gay coded and i should make a post about that some time. mihashis coding is a bit more ambiguous and harder to read
personally i think its hidden from us because abe and mihashi arent very..self aware about it. this is a manga about growing up and accepting yourself, and considering abe and mihashi both had tumultuous middl school lives i dont think its far fetched to say theyre suppressing a lot of Gay feelings and the like.
The pacific rim/ oofuri fic “Break on the willow shore” is better than I could ever ask for. It just… takes all the interesting parts about the pacific rim world and mix it in the best way with the themes of oofuri! I know I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; it’s just that good! Fantastic characterisations too! So I HAD to just make some rough sketches while listening to the playlist that goes with it!
